High Temperature Superconductors

We will measure the transition to the superconducting state in YBCO superconductor samples (Tc = 92K), using the Meissner effect (magnetic levitation) as well as the total disappearance of the electrical resistance. We will also measure the inverse Josephson Effect in which the coherent ground-state wavefunction of the superconducting state manifests itself macroscopically as a dc voltage. |
